The problem came when people were charging their phones literally IN the bed with them, then shoving the phone under their pillows. With thickly insulated material now pressing in on all sides, the excess heat generated while charging had nowhere to go, built up higher and higher, until it ignited the bedding.

That’s why I carry a charger, and I have a phone case that doubles as a power battery.
