…pretty sure that this one would get them in trouble – you need to let the school know if your kid’s not going to be there, and Papa already has two strikes against him between the Docks and the Mall.
When I was in school, I was sick a day and didn’t call it in. The next day I properly went into the office to report my absence to the secretary in charge of that, and she said, “looks like your 1st period teacher didn’t bother to mark you absent. You could have just said nothing and gotten away with not having the absence count on your file.” “Uh… I was genuinely sick, actually.” “Don’t care. NEXT!” (Those were the 1990s)
A year or two before covid (so, late 2010s?) I heard a local news report on the radio on my way to work. Two kids failed to arrive at school, the school called the police, and the police went to their house, KICKED THE DOOR IN, and found… that the two kids (11 and 12) had unplugged their mom’s alarm clock, so they could stay home and play video games. It wasn’t even 10am by the time the police were damaging property and terrifying residents.
Boy times have changed. Not for the better, I think.
When I was in school and missed a day, I brought a note from home giving the reason and was given an “excused absence”. Times sure have changed. And NOTE for the better. It’s a shame. So sad.
File under “Nice Try.”
I’m surprised she didn’t get a spanking
Pretty sure her mom is all bark and no bite
