“Middle school” being a Japanese (translated) term for what North American’s call “Junior High School”. The main difference being middle school covering grades 7-9, while NA JHS covers grades 7-8, and high school then covering grade 9-12.
Anyway, at age 12, she’s most likely in 7th grade, depending on exactly where her birthday falls.
While I’m not as emotionally dependent as a 12 year old girl naturally is, I get this sort of thing with my mother a lot.
My phone lives in my left hip pocket, or within arms reach, 24 hours a day (I’m an emergency medical contact for several people who… let’s say my getting calls like that is something that really happens, and leave it at that).
My mother sets her phone down somewhere in her house and forgets where it is, or goes out gardening in her back yard for hours, etc. She wont see a text message until the next time she picks up her phone for her own reasons, which may well be hours… or the next day.
BTW how old in Lena?
I would say… 12-ish?
Ah my initial guess of middle school was current then.

Yeah, but Lena’s mom has her phone attached at the hit.
